Day 12

It’s DAY 12 and I am still going strong. I briefly thought about taking the day off when I woke up at 6 am but figured why? I wasn’t tired. My body didn’t ache at all. I needed to be on that track! I hopped out of the bed with extreme zealous and got myself together.

I woke up BabyGenius and pulled the “I’m your mother and you have to do what I say” card and told him he was coming to the track with me.  Usually, each morning I asked him. This morning I told him. He knew he didn’t have a choice. He had to put those new track shoes to work.

Just like yesterday and the day before, I was able to run a little more and walk a little less on each lap.  I noticed something else too. My running pants are a little more loose around my waist than when I first started. It has only been 12 days! I am liking this running thing more and more each day. A LOT.

I did all six laps with ease. As I said, I ran more of each lap than I did yesterday. I pushed myself but I did not overdo it. I left the track feeling good. I built up a nice sweat, my calves hurt just a little but I walked back to the truck with ease. BabyGenius on the other hand looked like he needed me to carry him back to the truck and he cheated too. He only went four times around the track. That’s what he gets for not sticking to it.

Oh yeah! There was a small dog incident today. Nothing major. A woman whom we will call Beehive Betty, who was approximately 78 years old, decides she wants to walk her dog Spot on the track. Spot came over to meet BabyGenius and I as soon as we reached the track. Spot was a well-trained dog of some mixed breed and was no threat. I think Spot was about as old as Beehive Betty in dog years so he wasn’t about to chase a damn thing. He walked over, sniffed our butts and decided we were cool people and kept it moving.  I personally don’t think dogs have a place on a track field but I’m not the track field police so what can I do about it? I’m just glad it wasn’t Marmaduke and Puggie (see DAY THREE). Those two were definitely young and eager to chase.

Well folks that’s all for today. Enjoy your day!

Ms. P.
