Well friends I realized two things today. 1- I have to get
to the track before 8 am (it was hotter than the devil’s armpits on that track
today) and 2-music is definitely a key factor in my running abilities.
Since it was Sunday, I felt no need to get up and go to the
track by 7:00 am.
Even though I was awake by 5:30, I did not officially get out of bed until around 7:30. I lay in the bed and pretended to watch television but I had a lot on my mind that I was thinking about so I contemplated on some things and drifted in and out of sleep for those last two hours.

I then got up, fed Sara and I played with her for a short
while before heading to the track. Now I knew it was going to be hot because I
was so late in getting there and I knew I couldn’t wear my little running
jacket with the pockets therefore I needed something to hold my keys and my
Iphone. I decided to wear the money belt today.
No, it’s not a fanny pack! The money belt was almost perfect. Everything
fit neatly inside and I was able to run freely about the track without worries
of anything falling out of my pockets. There was only one problem with the
money belt. When I needed to change the music or hit a power song on my handy
dandy Nike + app, I had to actually unzip the money belt to get to my Iphone,
change the song and then put it back in and re-zip the money belt closed. Talk
about doing too much!
The zipping and unzipping of that money belt was the most
annoying part of my run/walk today. Had
that not been an issue, today’s run would have been perfect. Even in all that
heat and with the debacle of me zipping and unzipping the money belt, I
ran/walked a total of 2.37 miles. I also shaved almost 2 minutes off of my
previous run/walks, which means I was definitely running more and walking less.
So how do I fix the problem with the money belt, which I
plan to wear again because even when I wear the little jacket, I constantly
worry about my phone and keys falling out? I figured I’d just remove every
non-power song from my Iphone. Why do I have slow love songs on there anyway?
Every other song that popped up in my Iphone today was about love, making love,
being in love, love on top. What in the SAM HEEZEY? Who wants to run to that nonsense? All I
wanted was a power song with an upbeat tempo so I could blaze that track! I bet
you all one thing, as soon as I finish this blog, I’m removing every slow song
from my Iphone and downloading every powerful, exercise type song I can find.
I’ll probably give myself a heart attack running tomorrow but better that than
feeling like I need to stop in the middle of the track and slow dance to some
R&B jam. If you have any suggestions for power songs, feel free to leave them in a comment. The more the merrier!
All and all it was a good run. I had to keep pressing "Power Song" to get the proper music groove going but once I did, I was on the move.
Well folks, I have to get my DJ on so until tomorrow…
