Day 26

Who would have guessed that almost one month ago that little idea I had in my head to start running would have lasted this long.  I’ll be honest, not I. I am 26 days into this “not training for a marathon” and I will tell you I have enjoyed every minute of it.  Well maybe not the dog chases but you know what I mean. I will admit that having to tell you guys every day if I ran/walked or not is a major part in me staying focused. I am a person of my word. If I tell someone I’m going to do something, I make every effort possible to do it. If I don’t, I personally feel as though I have let them down. I don’t know if anyone following this really cares if I get on that track or not but the thought of maybe one person rooting for me gets disappointed that I did not get to the track adds to my daily determination to not fail. I’m glad I started this blog. It definitely helps me stay consistent. I have run/walked a lot more days than I have taken off. Go ahead and check the posts. I’m winning!

Anyway, today I did 2.12 miles and I broke my own personal record for running the first mile of my walk/run. I’m so proud of myself. I now have to work on keeping up the same pace for the second mile. Some days I run/walk a little more than two miles because I feel like I can do more and hey if I can, why not? However, after that first mile I do lose steam so my goal over the next two weeks is to build my endurance so I don’t lose time on that second mile.  Who knows, I may even reset my goal to do a 5k after that. We’ll see.

Today’s run was pretty uneventful (other than me breaking my record on the mile). I made it to the track by 7:30 am and there was a nice breeze, which may have been the reason I was able to run more than walk on my walk/run.  It was not raining and I had on my nifty little running jacket with the pockets so there was no drama with money belts. My music was right on point as I had previously deleted every slow love song from my Ipone. There were no dogs or women with bicycles on the track and “The Friends” weren’t there taking up every lane. So in the words of Ice Cube “Today I didn’t even have to use my A.K. I gotta say it was good day.”

And so until tomorrow my friends…

Ms. P.
