Day Six

I am NEVER taking a day off again! Woo-hoo! I feel great. Ok, I’m being extreme. Of course I will take a day off again but right now I feel so good I don’t want to ever not feel like this again. Now I remember another reason I ran so much as a kid/teen. It feels great! Yesterday, I did not get a chance to run and I didn’t feel so hot all day. Today? I’m walking on sunshine.  Ok, technically I’m not “running” like I did as a teen but I’m not NOT running either. I know that last sentence was grammatically incorrect (my junior high school english teacher Mrs. Ettrick taught me well), but I wanted you all to get the point.

Now, can I tell you that I’m so proud of myself? I stayed up late last night and that was because of a lot of “none-ya.”  J  In any event, with only four hours of sleep, I was able to go SIX times around the track and I ran part of each lap. Hot Damn! This is the first day that I could run a portion of each lap! This is after only six days of NOT training for a marathon!

It all started with me coming in at 6:30 am. That’s right 6:30 am. Remember, I’m grown.  Anyhow, I got myself together to go to the track and guess who decided to join me? BabyGenius! He’s back on track….Literally.  He and I went to the track, and we walked/ran our little hearts out.

I will not lie and say it was easy. I really had to push. I had to push to jog a part of each of those six laps around but I’m so happy I did it. I think I will stick to the six laps and work on getting better at it. I would like to jog more on each lap and walk less. That will be my goal for the next couple of weeks. Then I will add the 7th lap. Is that the right way to do it? I don’t know. I’m not a track coach but it feels right.  If there are any experienced runners reading this blog, feel free to leave some tips. I’m open to suggestions! Just don’t tell me to download apps like one of my dear friends (who I will not name) told me to do. That would be doing too much. I just want to RUN. I don’t want to geek out doing it. Luv you girl!

Anyway, I have to get my day started. I’m sure I will need to sneak a nap in sometime today because I’m not a spring chicken. I can’t hang out all night, run/jog 1.5 miles in the morning and make it through the rest of the day. To be honest after I got off that track, I wanted to crawl up in the back of my truck and go to sleep but with BabyGenius there and the extremely hot weather to come, it was not an option. Although after the initial few minutes of tiredness I felt whilst cooling off, I am left with an abundance of energy. Not enough to run another lap. Let’s not get crazy now. I have just enough to get some coffee and get started on some work.

Everyone have a great day!

P.S.

Daisy wasn’t there. There was only a middle-aged guy who we’ll call Fuchsia Frank because of his exotic running shoes. I hope Daisy is ok.  Little does she know that she’s an inspiration to me.
