Day 55

Ok, I’m posting this at 10:30 pm because as usual my hectic life is getting in the way of my making this blog great. I did not run on the track today. I went running with the puppies instead. I really enjoy run/walking with them. They are getting so big and it is definitely a great workout to run/walking with them because they still go from walking to sprinting. There is no jogging with them.  By the time I’m finished with walking them, I am soaked with sweat. And speaking of puppies…

So a while ago I had asked my daughter’s friend for a German Shepherd puppy. Since we never heard back and I really wanted a dog, I went to the pet store and got me a Boxer, which was my second choice. I went with the Boxer because Shepherds shed more and do you know how much a German Shepherd puppy costs? Anyway, I ended up with Sara. Then upon going back to the pet store two weeks later for some dog food, my daughter fell in love with another Boxer there and begged me to let her get Jane. I then thought we’d all live happily ever after until the night before last…

The young man we had asked to give us a German Shepherd puppy over a year ago gave us a six week old German Shepherd puppy.  She was so cute I couldn’t say no. So I took the puppy (knowing how expensive a full bred GSD can cost) and decided I’d sell the pup. I made one phone call and she was sold but the guy who wants her can’t come until the weekend so she’s been here since Tuesday night and guess who’s in love with her and don’t want her to leave now…

So now I have Sara (4 months), Jane (5 months) and Julie (six weeks). Have I lost my doggone mind? I think so. My kids want to keep Julie and sell Jane (we already have an offer for her), but I feel like she’s one of my kids. How can I get rid of her? I don’t even care that she’s not as bright as the other two puppies. Sara is very intelligent and is so attached to me. Jane (aka Moose) is less intelligent and a little more difficult to train. Julie is six weeks old and seems to already have more sense than Jane. It’s funny how they each have their own personalities. I do really love them all.

Now, you may be asking what do all these puppies have to do with this blog about running? Well I originally wanted ONE dog to run with in the mornings. I now have three. Talk about things happening in “threes.” My home and yard is definitely large enough for us all to live happily ever after but three dogs?  I wanted one dog and I now have somehow turned into Ms. P. “The Puppy Whisperer” over here.

Anyway, I’m hoping it doesn’t rain in the morning because I’d like to go to the track and break some more personal records. I think running with the two Boxers is building my endurance up. It’s either keep up with them or get dragged down the block by them.

I now have to settle down so I can be well rested for my morning run/walk on the track and then my evening run/walk with the Boxers. I’m still debating on what to do with Julie. The fact that we named her has me concerned.

Until tomorrow…

Ms. P.
