Day 68

Great morning folks! I’m not sure if I did a 5k but I definitely did at least 2 and half miles. I didn’t go to the track because like I said before school is back in and I don’t think I want to be bothered with a bunch of middle schoolers and the parking is atrocious when school is in session. I also did not use my handy dandy Nike + app because I didn’t want to pressure myself on my time since I was going to do 2 miles with the puppies.

I got up at 7am and completed my morning routine with the puppies and children and was done by 8:00. I decided to avoid my office and phone totally until I did my morning walk/run.  I did not want any excuse not to get it done today. I have been slacking and I no longer wanted that to continue.

I got Jane (my six month old boxer) and we headed out for my first mile. Everything went well at first. I was able to walk briskly with her and even jog a little without her going into a sprint. She jogged beside me like the good dog she can be when she wants to. It was cloudy out and there was a nice breeze so I was feeling good.  Everything was great until…

Like I said it was going so well until we were going into the last go around the neighborhood. Halfway down the block, the wind picked up and it spooked Jane. She started pulling and refused to walk any further. I tried talking to her and letting her know it was okay but she wasn’t trying to hear it. She then got on the ground and started rolling around like she didn’t have any sense. I pulled the leash to try to get her to stand up but she was dead weight. She looked up at me with that silly grin she does and continued to roll. I stood there looking at her. There was no way I was picking her up. She has to be about 35 pounds of pure muscle now. How would I look (as if I could) carrying a big ass white boxer down the block? She may still be considered a puppy but she is BIG.

After a few seconds of me looking at her like she was crazy, she finally got up. I decided to take her back home and continue my morning walk with Sara. Jane was all too eager to go back home. We jogged the half of block back to the house. I then took Jane in the house, got Sara and did a full mile with her. The wind did not bother Sara at all. She was happy to run/walk beside me. Even though Jane is a full month older than Sara, Sara is definitely more mature and is eager to please. She walked beside me when I walked. She jogged when I jogged. She tried sprinting but I just yanked the leash a little and she settled down. She also tried chasing some leaves as we ran every now and then but again a little jerk of the leash got her back on track.

After doing the mile with Sara, I came back inside and ran/walked a mile on the treadmill. I would have done 3 miles in total had Jane not acted like a nutcase due because of the wind.

All in all, I had a great workout. I worked up a nice sweat outside and inside. I actually like run/walking around the neighborhood more than on the track. At least I’m not burning any gasoline getting my workout on. Do you know how much a gallon of gas is? Geesh! Now if I could just get Mother Nature to hold off on the high winds when I’m walking Jane, life would be a breeze.

Until tomorrow…

Day 66- Day Off For NO DAMN REASON!

I am so disappointed in myself. I can’t believe I did not do ANYTHING today in terms of my not training for a marathon. I didn’t even walk the puppies. I have no excuse other than the laziness. I can’t even blame the devil. He’s too busy causing issues in other people’s lives than to be bothered with keeping me from walk/running. I’m doing a good job at that myself.

Let’s start from the beginning. I got up at 6:00 am and it was totally dark outside. It was raining heavily and showed no signs of letting up. I had already decided that I was going to run/walk on the treadmill sometime in the middle of the night so the rain did not deter me from a darn thing. Upon getting up, I went downstairs, let the puppies out and then fed them. That took no more than an hour. Today was the first day of school but my children are older so there was nothing for me to do other than kiss them good-bye.

I finished with the puppies and children and had plenty of time to head downstairs to walk/run but instead of going downstairs, I went right back upstairs and went back to bed. I want to say it was because I was up until about 3:30 am but I’ve run/walked after staying up before so that wasn’t an issue. Even so, I only slept for another 45 minutes and still had plenty of time to run/walk before starting work.

After waking up for the second time, I got myself together and put on my workout clothes and had every intention to head downstairs to the exercise room. Somehow on the way down, I stopped in my office to do something real quick. Real quick turned into a half hour. A half our turned into an hour and before you knew it, the day was gone.

It rained pretty much all day so I didn’t take the dogs for a walk and I really did not want to go down in the basement to run/walk on the treadmill. I HAVE to run/walk in the morning because once my day starts, it’s hard to squeeze in a 45-minute run/walk until the end of the day.

I can’t wait until tomorrow so I can get my butt on that treadmill or run/walk through the neighborhood. I can’t go to the track until the weekend, which I think may be part of my problem. I don’t like run/walking on the treadmill and I didn’t have enough enthusiasm to convince myself to do it.  It is suppose to rain again tomorrow. I hope not. I really need to get in a 5k and it’s going to take every ounce of motivation for me to do it on the treadmill. I guess tomorrow will tell.

Until then…

Day 66

Ok, let me start off by saying I know that I haven’t posted since Day 62, which was actually posted on Day 63.  Day 61 was posted on Day 62 and so on and so forth. I definitely need to go back to posting immediately after I run/walk. Once my day starts, I barely get a bathroom break let alone a minute to post on a blog site.

Tomorrow, I will definitely be back on track in terms of blogging and run/walking. I did not run/walk this weekend as I was so busy getting the children ready for school and getting the puppies situated in their new room.

I have an oversized two-car garage that I don’t use so I converted that into the puppy play room. They now have an inside and outside area of their own. Prior to setting up the garage for them, I was spending more time mopping, dusting and wiping down everything they touched all day as I have OCD. It was getting to be ridiculous. Now they have their own little area that I can clean just twice a day and I don’t have to worry about dog hair on my floor or furniture and I won’t have to wipe up every strand of dog hair all day long. For the most part, the two older ones are housebroken. I just have to work on the little one. She’s very smart so that should be a breeze.

During my hiatus from my blog, I walked the puppies each day so I wasn’t totally inactive. I just have not run/walked a 5k since Day 61. Wait, is that right??? Let me go check…Wow. Five days?! That is not good. I will have to get to the track soon. I don’t know how that’s going to work out because now that the children are back in school, I don’t know how accessible the junior high school track will be in the mornings. It may be best to run/walk on the treadmill during the week and run/walk the track on the weekends. I can also run/walk through my neighborhood I guess. I don’t know. I will decide in the morning.

Until then…
