Day 69

Great morning folks! Okay-okay! I know I haven’t updated this blog in a long time but it’s been a rough (hold on-let me figure it out… a little over 30 days). To be honest, I really thought it was more than that.

I told you all when I first started running again that I wouldn’t stop running and I didn’t. I just wasn’t as focused as I was when I first started. I had a whole lot of personal stuff going on and I had to get my shit together (excuse my French).  The life issues weren’t all bad. Some were in fact very good issues but I had very little time to sleep in the last few weeks let alone update a blog. I did manage to get some run/walking in. I was averaging about 2-3 days a week, which is not bad but not good either.

In any event, I’m back and plan to be here for a while. I’m going to do my best to update as often as I can. I will now only count days that I actually run/walk and blog. I can’t be so bothered trying to figure out how many days have actually passed in between blogging. If someone out there wants to take the time and figure all that out, go ahead and be my guest. I’ll post your exact number underneath my own.

So this morning I ran/walked about 2 ½ miles. I did whole thing with my two puppies and adult dog. Oh yeah. I now have an adult- two-year old German shepherd dog AND I’m down to two puppies. I swear I need to change the title of this blog to “My Goal To Only Have Two Dogs.” Okay, let me explain…

My daughter’s white boxer (Jane) that she LOVED so much was not getting along with my German shepherd puppy. I was in the process of training the two puppies to get along when my daughter lost her damn mind for about a week (let’s not dwell on the details), and I decided I had enough of her and her damn dog. Anyway, since she wasn’t helping me take care of the dog that she BEGGED me to let her get, I sent the dog to live with her dad. If I could have sent her with the dog I would have but she’s my baby and I’d miss her too much, but back to the story. I originally only wanted to have two dogs so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to get rid of one, still be able to see her often and not totally relieve my daughter of the responsibility that she took on. Her dad has been great about it.  He actually loves Jane and takes her everywhere with him. I was finally down to two puppies (Sara and Julie) and my daughter regained her senses after a couple of days and life was good until…

Once upon a time, there was this dog by the name of Cheyenne who needed a home. I won’t go into all of the intricate details, but I was kind of babysitting to figure out what we were going to do with her and then she and I fell in love. She is the greatest dog ever. I can’t believe how smart she is. She is already house broken, loves me to death and obeys far better than these two little puppies. She has made me a believer in adopting adult dogs. If you provide them with a loving home, they just fall right into place. I won’t say it was a complete breeze because those puppies irked every bit of her nerves the first day here but in the end, she learned to tolerate them.  By the way, she is a WONDERFUL guard dog. I feel sorry for anyone who saunters up on my property without me.  Yes I have signs posted so enter at your own risk. I now have THREE dogs again. Go figure.

Anyway, today’s run/walk was great. I did not keep track of my actual distance with my handy dandy Nike + app because who can do all of that whilst run/walking with three dogs. I’m sure I did at least 2 ½ miles because three times around the neighborhood equals just over a mile and I did five or six times around. I can’t remember exactly how many times we went around. I do know it was at least five times.  The dogs all walked properly beside me and jogged when I jogged. The looked forward to my short sprints. I'm not THAT good where I can just be sprinting long distances. All in all, we had NO issues. Like I said I had been walking the puppies over the last month so they were use to it. Cheyenne joined right in with no problem. All is well at the Parker Dog Ranch.

To get some more exercise in today, I think I will go to the track later and try to do a 5k and time myself then. I don’t know. I will see. I will let you know if it happened tomorrow.

Until then…

Ms. P.
